Hi, welcome to our website. We are the Culcheth Players, a small community drama society based out of the Culcheth Sports Club (commonly known as “The Daten”), in the Cheshire village of Culcheth.
We are pleased you dropped by and hope you find this site useful. On it you will find information about our performances, past and present, including how you can obtain tickets and also how you can get involved yourself should you so wish (don’t be shy, we love new members).
And if you can’t find the information you are looking for, or just to say hello, drop us a message via the Contact Us page.
You can read more about the group’s history on the About Us page.
Our Current Activities
We are planning the following performances for the remainder of 2019:
The Happiest Days of Your Life by John Dighton – June 20th, 21st and 22nd
‘Allo ‘Allo by Jeremy Lloyd, David Croft – October 17th, 18th and 19th
We have just completed another fantastic pantomime in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Thank you to everyone involved in making that production such a success, including cast and crew and of course the audience, it wouldn’t be a panto without the interaction.
We are currently reading through The Happiest Days of Your Life before casting takes place. Casting will be in late March.
A message from the club secretary
The Culcheth Players has a long history, stretching back over 60 years, long before the advent of mobile phones, social media and movie streaming services. We are ever grateful that our audiences choose to spend their valuable time coming to watch our performances when there are so many other things one can do.
Ultimately we are just a bunch of friends, old or new, with a shared interest in prancing about on stage, and we are lucky that we have a great stage at Culcheth Sports Club on which to do this, in our own attempt to keep the village amdram scene alive in Culcheth.
Our group has gone from strength to strength over the last few years, with increases in membership and great feedback from our audiences, and I’ll be doing all that I can in order for this to continue.
With that in mind I’d like to invite anyone to contact me with their personal feedback or suggestions on what kind of plays you’d like us to perform in future. I’d love to know what you think.
And of course finally, if you like what we are about, please consider joining our merry tribe. We are always welcoming to new members and we are especially keen for more backstage help.
